Biking Adventures with My GPS

I love to travel on my mountain bike to some great places.

I use a GPS to get to these places and usually map it out before I go. Using a bicycle for my adventures makes it very easy and accessibly easy. I’m a avid bicyclist going on long trips, using my GPS to mark cool spot I want to come back to, and taking photos of my experience. When I get on my bike I feel free to go spots I can’t in a vehicle, you can just get to these places so much faster and its great exercise too!

When you’re a consistent cyclist you will be in great shape, balance in a physical sense, you open up your lungs and feel great afterwards. I have done long travels that lasted for days while biking, backpacking all my gear and find great trails that leads to camping area’s I can stay overnight. The freedom of being outdoors and riding through the trails is spectacular for an adventurer like me.

I make sure my bike is up to the trip, checking all the gears which I oil them, tire pressure and taking a spare tube with bicycle pump attached to the frame. I always pack in extra previsions like water, granola bars, trail mix, electrolytes, power bars with high protein and vitamins to keep my strength up. I try to stay cool as much as possible, stopping at shaded areas for a few hours before I move on. If I find a good spot I have never been I will create a waypoint on my GPS and come back this for later use.

I once found a really old trail off the beaten path and did some exploring, finding some old rocks and gemstones which was really cool. I have even found old river channels and waterfalls which I feel were forgotten because I was so far off the trail. I can find these places on a bike pretty easy and mark it on my GPS map for my friends to also check out. It’s like a road adventure that I have discovered which most would pay for a guide to take them to, or park ranger would show them.

I can create my adventure before I leave my house using the internet maps and upload to my GPS. I can be my own guide with the proper maps and coordinates to get me there. It’s pretty cool with the technology we have to get you to forgotten places most people would drive by and not even know it’s there. I consider myself a biking adventure or explorer with no limits to the places I can get to, log it in my GPS and then download the KML file to a mapping system keeping a data base of all my places I have visited.

Biking with a GPS mapping system is the best technology we have invented, being outdoors and exploring these places is something everyone should try once.
